Admission Policy

  The Department of Social Welfare aims to educate social workers who can make use of a wide range of knowledge and experiences to know themselves and understand others and play an active role in the development of a welfare society. Therefore, we accept students whose aspiration to assist others is based on a value for the individual, a concept of societal welfare and a willingness to study broadly about life, health and education.

Educational Goals

1) The Department of Social Welfare strives to educate social workers who can, in practice, provide appropriate and essential services based on a profound understanding of human dignity and respect for individual human rights.

2) The Department of Social Welfare endeavors to educate social workers who, when addressing an individual’s particular lifestyle and health-related issues, can collaborate with experts from other fields such as health, medical care and education by providing specific support services founded on scientific and social perspectives.

3) The Department of Social Welfare aims to educate social workers who, rooted in their own communities, also show deep interest in other cultures and the many issues faced by humankind, and demonstrate an eagerness to be part of the solution.

4) The Department of Social Welfare seeks to educate social workers who, in collaboration with local authorities and social service organizations, can apply knowledge and practical experience gained through their studies to the solution of local, community-based issues.

5) The Department of Social Welfare has the explicit goal of training students to become (1) members of welfare institutions with a community-centred perspective, (2) key staff members of local governments and social welfare organizations who can coordinate the participation of community members and experts from other healthcare fields (3) members of local communities who can contribute to the shaping of a welfare society by working for the welfare of the community.
